Sri Ramakrishna Punyatithi is the death anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. As per Gregorian calendar, Sri Ramakrishna died on August 16, 1886. The corresponding date in Hindu Lunar Calendar is the Shukla Paksha Dasami, or the tenth day of the waxing phase of moon, in Bhadarapad month. This date in 2011 is on September 7.
The day is observed by remembering the philosophy and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna. Pujas are offered on the day at various places in India
